Recording System

Replay
The Replay system is a function built into the client which allows game data to be saved as a replayable “movie” the user can then view within a Replay version of the game client.

Overview:

  1. To record a game session, click on the “rec” button in the upper left below the character information window.
  2. A recording control panel will appear.
  3. Select what information you wish to include in your recording by clicking the middle Option button. The following pieces of information can be captured:
    1. Basic Info
    2. Equipment
    3. Items
    4. Skills
    5. All chat
    6. Party chat
    7. Guild chat
    8. Shortcuts
  4. You can also choose to specify the name of the replay file yourself, and you want whether the client to prevent a duplicate file from being created, overwriting an older recording.
  5. Once satisfied with the recording options, hit the Start button and your game session will be recorded. Map changes are recorded, and the recording will only end when the user selects Stop.
  6. The file will be saved as a .rrf in the user’s game directory in the Replay folder. The exact location will appear in the general message window in orange. Replays can be sent to others, copied, and shared.

Replaying:

  1. To replay a recorded session, launch the normal patch client for your server, and choose the “Replay” option. This will launch a special Replay version of the game client.
    Note: If your background music, sound effects and/or skill effects have been disabled in your normal game client, they will also be disabled while in the replay client. You must re-enable them in your normal client first before they will work in replay mode.
  2. A list of replay files will appear, which the user can select from.
  3. Select a replay file, and the replay session will begin. A control interface will appear in the bottom right corner. The box includes the following functions:
    1. Begin/Pause replay
    2. Increase/Decrease Speed (X1/4, X1/2, X1, X2, X4)
    3. Reset replay
    4. Return to file section screen (Exit)

Limitations

To watch a recorded game session, your Ragnarok client must be updated with the same assets (sprites, maps, sounds, etc.) that were used when the replay was originally recorded. Unlike a “normal” video, the visual and audio content is not saved in the replay file, resulting in its very small size. Attempting to watch a replay file in a client with modified or outdated assets may fail to play correctly/accurately. A good rule of thumb is that clients are backward-compatible with older (asset-wise) replays, and replay files are forwards-compatible with more updated clients, but not vice-versa.

MAC OS using Wineskin

Table of Contents

1. Introduction

For better or worse, Apple’s Macbook laptops have become much more prominent for everyday use.

It’s no secret that gaming on these laptops is next to impossible due to compatibility issues,

but tools like Wineskin assist in bridging the gap in running Windows-based executable software on a Mac.

This guide is made to help walk mac users through the process of using the Wineskin software and assumes the user has basic knowledge of how to use Mac OS,

such as navigating Finder and installing apps.

2. Required Software

Wineskin is an extremely simple tool to use and only requires the download of two things:

Please make sure the Wineskin Winery software is installed and in your applications folder and extract the ROPS client folder from the .rar file(s).

Be sure the ROPS client folder is somewhere you can easily access, such as the desktop. This will make things a lot easier!

3. Creating the Winewrapper

Now that you’ve installed Wineskin’s Winery app and extracted the ROPS folder to an area of your choosing, navigate to your applications and open the Wineskin app.

You should be able to search for the Wineskin app and open it via spotlight search (cmd + spacebar).

Figure 1. Wineskin Winery app location

Now that we’ve found our Wineskin Winery app, open it and you should get a window that looks similar to this:

Figure 2. Wineskin Winery application UI

If you do not have the 2.3 or 2.2 engines, try pressing the + button in the Wineskin Winery UI and see if it’s available to download and install.

If this is the case, the application may prompt you to install some software dependencies.

Click accept through whatever pops up and continue until you have something like the above screenshot.

At this point, make sure WS9Wine2.3 is selected and press the “Create New Blank Wrapper” button at the bottom of the window.

You will be prompted to name the wrapper. For sake of keeping things organized, name it “ROPS.”

The software will load and generate the Wrapper. It may prompt you to install more software dependencies it is unable to find. Allow it to install and move on.

A window should pop up with the new ROPS wrapper it has generated. For our records, note that this has been generated at “~/Applications/Wineskin/ “.

You may navigate here on your own by clicking out to the finder > “Go” at the top of the screen >  Go to… > copy/paste ~/Applications/Wineskin/ in the space for the file path.

4. Configuration

Now that we have our ROPS wrapper, right click (or ctrl+click) on it and click on “Show Package Contents.”

Fig 3. Ragnaclan Winewrapper

This brings you to the contents of this wrapper application. You should see the contents, drive_c, and wineskin.

Figure 5. Contents of Ragnaclan wrapper

Navigate to drive_c and click on the program files folder. Drag and drop the ROPS Full Client folder that you previously extracted and place it in this program files folder.

Figure 6. Program Files folder within drive_c

After you have completed this, click the back button until we are back to the first window as shown at the beginning of these configuration step.

Alternatively, feel free to navigate to your local applications and wineskin folder (~/Applications/Wineskin/) as described at the end of step 3.

Double click on the ROPS wrapper and you should be prompted with a new window.

Figure 7. Ragnaclan Wrapper setup

Click on advanced and you will be shown more options. You should see the first line on this configuration page that says “Windows EXE.”

Go all the way to the right of that line and click on browse in order to select the executable we want the Wineskin wrapper to be pointing to.

59cae269c3023_ScreenShot2017-09-26at5_49_41PM.thumb.png.d50179e65041236b01cfc68d765df6c3.png

After clicking browse, it should automatically bring us to the drive_c folder we were in earlier.

Click on Program Files and open the ROPS  Full Client folder that we moved here. Find the patcher for the server and choose it.

59cae275e794c_ScreenShot2017-09-26at5_49_57PM.thumb.png.66f161904843b0e153e63b226ac52ddf.png

After setting the wrapper to point to the patcher, we will need to have dependencies that the game requires, such as Microsoft C++ 2008.

This can be done by going to the tools tab. This gives us an entirely new list of options; however, the one we are looking for is the Winetricks option.

59cae3fa26a4b_ScreenShot2017-09-26at5_51_21PM.thumb.png.a2edd4236eb21756673f3977475ccada.png

After clicking on Winetricks, we will find a list of categories that drop down for a list of options to check mark.

Go to the games category and scroll down until you find “Ragnarok.” This should be fairly easy to find, as this list is in alphabetical order.

59cae484e2691_ScreenShot2017-09-26at5_51_49PM.thumb.png.aff2e2c9f12e1854144004cfdc5e9159.png

After toggling Ragnarok with a check mark, click the run button. You will then be prompted with a window asking to confirm if you want to run Winetricks.

Press run on this new window to confirm and you will see an installation progress log run through that bottom half of the Winetricks window.

You will be asked to install various dependencies, based on what is required to run Ragnarok Online. Confirm and accept through these installation prompts.

5. Running the Game

Close out of this Wintricks window after it is finished and click on the “Test Run” button back in the tools tab. The game’s patcher should open up and patch.

59cae5ea58fdc_ScreenShot2017-09-26at5_53_14PM.thumb.png.7b7682d597dbb95df15a89afc7a293ee.png

Hopefully, if everything installed correctly, you should be able to start the game and log in without any issues!

The game will prompt you to set up your display settings and what graphics engine to use.

For me, I used the discrete graphics card on my macbook and chose the default display option.

59cae640b11df_ScreenShot2017-09-26at5_55_46PM.thumb.png.2b53e7d11026cdc986dc6a0874fe170b.png

After closing out of this, you can reopen the game with the ROPS wrapper.

Since it’s saved all of the configurations of the test run, you won’t have to deal with going through with any of the previous steps again.

If you really want to, feel free to drag and drop the Wineskin to the dock at the bottom of your screen to create a shortcut to easily access the game.

6. Ending Notes

I do hope that this does prove helpful for those that do not want to have to resort to boot camping their Macbooks just to play Ragnarok Online.

Enjoy!

Devil Square

Overview

DS is a pvm event that strongly focuses on teamplay and on the special abilities of a few selected classes.

Ego plays have no place in this event as you can’t solo run it. The event will spawn a number of monsters in each wave.

You’ll have to clean up all the remaining monsters to trigger the next wave till the final boss appears. The level of difficulty increases with each wave.

Make sure to pay attention to the broadcasts in the event.

The event is on a set schedule: 00:15, 04:15, 08:15, 12:15, 16:15 and 20:15 and a bonus feature: there is a very small chance that it activates every hour.

The minimum level to enter is 90 and the entrance fee is 10k zeny. You can join the event once it activates by typing @joinds.

Dualclienting, griefing, non-participating* or afk’ing is absolutely forbidden and will be punished.

* Includes pretending to use skills (e.g. using Acid Demonstration without bottles)

Rewards for winning are:

  • Huskarl Crate
  • Old Card Album
  • Token Of Siegfried
  • 1 Clan Point

How to successfully play the event?

First of all, its a choice of classes. Not every class is a useful choice for this event so you may want to bring a character that provides help to your team.

My recommended classes are:

Spoiler

Damage Classses:

* Snipers with MvP bows or property bows (e.g. against ghost property)

* High Wizards

* AD Creators

* Asura Champions

Support classes:

* Redemptio High Priests & FS High Priests

* SP Swap Professors

* Linkers

* Devo Paladins

* Tarot & Song Clowns / Gypsies

Tanks and demobbers

SB Champion

Lord Knight

Paladins

bonus: “Running Linkers” to demob < fun to watch

My non recommended classes are:

Spoiler

Whitesmith – You’ll be dead before you get close to inflict damage. If you don’t have great gear and no potions to spend, I would not recommend using this one.

Gunslingers / Ninjas – Too weak compared to other classes

Assassins – same as a whitesmith

Bolter Profs – take a wizard instead

The Map

map.png.faa733ad587a9e60829b1343e6f634b5.png

The End Boss:

The boss has the appearance of a bloody knight monster with boosted health points and much stronger attacks. Your goal is to defeat the end boss and all its minions that spawn in the last round. PS: Tarot works on him 😉

The Strategy

The event is actually very simple once you got the hang of it. The map is divided into the “Safe and the Attack Zone”. In the Safe Zone (basically the center of the map), no monsters will spawn. However, in the Attack Zone, the waves you have to defeat will take place. That’s why it’s highly recommended to leave a few support classes ALWAYS outside in the safe zone to ensure that an entire team wipe will be prevented. For clarification: a team wipe means you’ve failed the event and no reward will be given.

rrrrpng.thumb.png.43c9a40e26d9a8348b5ccb5dce42cf44.png

The trick is simple. One or two redemptio priests line up at the edge of the safe zone map (pink quarter). Redemptio will actually hit the people that lined up in the “yellow area” (first cell to map edge) and you’ll be safely resurrected without risks. Recommended are two redemptio priests that have bragi support to ensure fast killing/ressing. The tanks will ensure that mobs will be dragged towards the players that inflict damage. Asura champs are recommended to hop between safe and attack zone to portal asura.

@settings command

Hey everyone! So, I find this feature that has been used in the server but never been worthy for a guide. Although it might be self-explanatory to some, others might say otherwise. And with that, I’ll walk you through the “@settings“‘s basic features.

  • After entering “@settings” another dialog box that looks like this should appear.

1.gif.15246cd120c3ea0b672ef3b678185e08.gif

Four setting options will appear, namely and their functions:

Login Settings – Here you can modify what commands- @autoloot, @Noks, etc.– you want to have automatically ON whenever you log in to your character. This helps players to log-in without worrying about typing-in important commands before farming, grinding, or hunting.

Spoiler

2.gif.a9d506864fba7b21584ebb9096f8ac8b.gif

Account Settings – This setting can let you check your character account’s basic information, and change character name. You can also find an option to Reset Position, Reset Style, and Reset Equipment of your character with one click.

Blurred Textures

Overview

In case you’re seeking advice in here then congratulations, your computer doesn’t suck.

Some may have noticed that with rather pricey graphics cards, the textures get pretty messed up.

But fear no more, there is a simple, temporary fix. To fix it, simply press Ctrl + alt + del.

This will bring you to your “windows lock screen” – just ESC / go back and viola, your game is pretty again.

Why are my sprites messed up in the first place?

The game was released quite some years ago and it, of course, was designed to fit the standard systems back then and they were simply bad compared to today.

What does the above provided “fix” do?

It causes your PC into the lock mode which forces a reload of your graphics cards drivers. It only lasts as long as you run the client.

Other reasons why textures get blurry:

1) your computer is as advanced as a toaster

2) your texture/sprite settings in the Ragnarok setup.exe are for some reason not maxed

If anyone got a permanent fix ready, you’re welcome to share.

Lite Graphics Plugin

Overview

Lite Graphics Plugin (LGP) is a client-built in a plugin which allows its user to display cells with customizable colored shades. These shades mark different Area of Effect skills (AoE) as well as cell range from the user in a circle or in a square. LGP is not part of the effects, therefore it can be used with /effects turned off.

In order to customize your own color for each skill, go to your Ragnarok folder and open a file called “plugin.ini”.
Then follow these steps:

Find the skills you wish to change. Use underscore (_), if the name of the skill contains a space in between E.g. ; Magnus_Exorcimus
Under the skill name, find the 6-hex annotation (the last six digits of the second line).
E.g.

;  PR_MAGNUS#Magnus_Exorcismus

Skill0084=0x7F00FFFF

Replace the last 6-digits with a color you desire. You can convert any color to hex annotations using this website: http://www.color-hex.com/

1. Introduction

Welcome to the guide for our restock system we have here at Ragnaclan! Restock is a convenient system in which you’re able to replenish your items in your inventory directly from your storage. Usage of this system is very convenient for pvm, bg, and (most notably) WoE. The goal of this guide is to set you up for success in using the restock system. While it is a minor time investment to set up, there’s very little you’ll have to change if you’re simply using your character for BG and WoE purposes. For our server, you can bring up the restock menu simply by using the command @restockmanage.

The above two windows Show all the options you are given when pulling up @restockmanage. As you can see, we have Configure restock to current inveotry, set restock manually, set healer restock off, switch item type of all slots, choose items that ignore switching, turn autorestock on.

2. Automatically Configuring

The easiest way to configure restock is to configure it to your current inventory. After confirming you’d like to set it to your current inventory, you should get a window like this:

504CiF2.png

As you can see, automatically configuring is not perfect, as it will set ALL items to restock. These can be removed from the list, as we will explain in the next section. Autoconfigure also sets the current amount of each item as both the min/max values. This will cause the autorestock function to constantly replenish an item every time it is used, in order to get back to that max value. This can be changed in the next section as well, to avoid chat flood. Also note that the default configuration for all items is universal.

3. Manually Configuring

As explained in the last section, there’s likely items that you do not want to be restock. You will also need to change item types and set new minimums for each item.

scyD4Yo.png

When selecting the manually configure restock option from the first window, you are given the options to set the item ID, set min inventory, set max inventory, set type, and remove (not pictured). You will want to remove any items you do not want restocked in the list, in order to make room for other items. To add another item to your restock list, you will require the item ID for that specific item. A quick search on ratemyserver or the command @ii will get you the item ID you need.

By default, all items are set to universal, so be sure to set them as BG/WoE through this window or you can change them on the first window with the “Switch item type of all slots” option.

4. Autorestock / Healer Restock

BBMnhbh.png

Be default, autorestock is disabled. The command @restock can be used to restock your items from storage. You can enable autorestock to eliminate the requirement of typing or hotkeying @restock in the middle of BG or WoE. Items will continue to refresh at your set minimum until you run out of items in your storage.

5. Closing Notes / Known Issues

Configuring your restock the way you like it is up to you. Whatever combination of options in this menu you need to do to tailor your list to your needs does not matter. If you run out of slots in your restock list, you can simply purchase another one for 1CP or 5GC through the manual config menu.  This option gives the user plenty of freedom to set up their characters with whatever items they need for restocking.

With that said, there are known issues with the system. Personally, I’ve seen it bug out when dealing with brewed potions where it would restock more than it should. This is easily countered by simply setting a lower min/max value for restocking. People seem to get by with setting a min and max of one.

@settings command

Hey everyone! So, I find this feature that has been used in the server but never been worthy for a guide. Although it might be self-explanatory to some, others might say otherwise. And with that, I’ll walk you through the “@settings“‘s basic features. After entering “@settings” another dialog box that looks like this should appear. Four setting options will appear, namely and their functions: Login Settings – Here you can modify what commands- @autoloot, @Noks, […]
